Dominican Republic - Kim &

Dominican Advance
is
guided by four core principles: 1. Integrity in operation
2. Excellence in purpose 3. Humility in leadership 4.Faith in a God-filled
future
We seek to work with Christians of all persuasions in
co-operating with the Heavenly Father's purpose of glorifying Christ in the
Dominican Republic. By reaching out to the less fortunate by this world's
standards, we demonstrate God's love for all. It's our desire to open the
eyes of every one living in this country to a future that is as bright as
all of God's promises. We take great care to work in harmony with
our fellow-laborers - local pastors, teachers and directors, supporters and
team members, and those who pray daily for this ministry.
Dominican Advance sees itself as an instrument in
God's hands to bring together a diversity of people and gifts to establish
effective programs for child sponsorship, microbusiness empowerment, and
preaching and teaching the gospel in the Dominican
Republic.
Guatemala - Joanne
Simpson
Presently
Shadow of His Wings houses sixty one girls
in five
homes with a set of house parents and their
families
in each home. Several are daughters of
prostitutes, with one of them being forced into her
mother's
profession at the age of six. Some girls have come to
the Home
badly beaten, one by her mother and the other by a
stepfather.
One girl was taken from the streets where she had been
selling candy
on the "Chicken Buses" to earn her meager existence in
one of
the most dangerous areas of Guatemala City, a city
of over four million. In
addition to that, she had been tortured with burns
to the back of her legs and
carries the deep scars as
evidence.
While it is difficult to imagine administrating this, our
hearts have been directed of the Lord
to
build for at least 150 girls and 100 boys. The site will have
a
school,
high school for the the 250 children,
a
multi-purpose building with a central kitchen, medical clinic (which will also
serve community members),
administrative building, two small staff homes, and
a building for the “Step Up” transition program
for the girls who turn eighteen and can live with less
supervision. A soccer field, a home
for babies and an adoption program and a home or homes
for widows is also in the overall long-term plan.
